Fearless Furry Friends
This meditation is for humans who have cats and dogs in their families, and need a little support in relieving possible pet stress, for instance, during car journeys or fireworks.
A friend of mine listened to my debut in meditation, and told me her dogs suddenly all became relaxed and sleepy too… she advised I should create one specifically for the furry friends in our lives!
Besides relaxation for your cats and dogs, this meditation also helps humans understand more about their pet’s inner world, and how they can love and respect them even more through increased awareness and deeper knowledge of their biology.

This meditation is for you and your loved ones
No, not your human companions
This is for you and your pets
Specifically, cats and dogs
With Guy Fawkes night fast approaching on 5th November
It’s important to understand what your pets go through
In terms of loud noises
Their hearing is far superior to ours

Consider this; A human conversation is between 1 and 5khz
And the human upper limit to listen or hear is 20khz
Even a human whisper is between 1 and 4khz
With dogs, their upper limit of hearing, is far extended, with dogs having an upper limit of 40khz!
Cats also have a superior ability to hear far beyond both human and dog capabilities
A cats hearing upper limit is actually 60Htz
Which is interesting given that cats have a range of vocalisations between 50 and 100Khz

Which includes higher pitched electronic signals, or ultra sonic sounds
So it’s important to consider your pets experience of the world, as being different to yours
When a washing machine is on full spin, And at its loudest
Its’ merely a disturbing noise for humans,
But for cats and dogs, it can be quite frightening
That’s why soothing frequencies like this one
May help calm your pets in times of loud noises,

Like fireworks, overhead aeroplanes or drilling & DIY
Although no one has invented cat and dog earphones just yet, perhaps there is a niche
Relax your loved ones by playing them this video
My soothing tones help all manner of animals fall asleep
I have two cats of my own
And I read aloud to them
And if I stop
They vocalise a small protest.

The pets in our lives are special,
An exchange of affection and love
An exchange of recognition and understanding
Of course, they’re not angels all the time
But most of the time, they can bring people relaxation
Psychological Research suggests stroking cats and dogs
Can contribute to relieving stress
Stroking is tactile

And it can only be found in the present moment
So I think one way this works
Is because you are tuned in with the present moment
Your hand and your pet, united, in a moment that’s free from worry, and free from stress.
Even eye contact with your pet can be a source of comfort
Holding your dog’s head while s/he looks at you
In a loving exchange, can bring peace, and serenity, contentment
Expressing your love to your cats by slow blinking

Will usually incite a slow blink in return, if they didn’t send you one first
Both cats and dogs are very important in this world
The silly things that they do
The naughty things that they do
They make us laugh, spend quality time with your pets
Because they need company
Equally as much as you do
And although your stimulation comes mainly from electronic communications these days

Cats and dogs don’t have that same stimulation
Take them for walks
Let them enjoy nature
Benefitting your physiology at the same time
Tell them you love them
Even if they can’t reply!
Show them they have presence in your life.
